This web page has been developed to share information regarding our local chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt, or "ARCE" (pronounced "ARE-C"). Most events hosted by the Arizona Chapter are in Tucson, but we strive to support interest in Egyptology anywhere in the state.

New Perspectives on Nubian Ancestry: Exploring the Nile Valley using Ancient Genomics

Summary: For more than three centuries, explorers and archaeologists have been traversing the Nile River Valley. Amongst the long tradition of research in this region, a novel line of evidence has emerged to investigate the complex history of northeast Africa: Paleogenomics. This presentation will introduce recent advances in the field of ancient DNA that has opened the African continent to the genomic revolution and present the latest data on Nubian genomics shedding new light on their ancestry.
